I listened on the 15th and it took me back to yesterday and the memories old and new from 44 years married to Judy. We became friends prior ot the engagement and have journeyed through life with ash as the core along with the love we have given each other and humbly have shared with family and so many others. Thank you!
I remember I presented a program about how Hollywood movies have depicted Biblical stories. One of the movies I talked about was “David and Bathsheba” starring Gregory Peck and Susan Hayward. I showed a clip from the film and mentioned how some of these Hollywood epics tried to be so respectful about their stories that they ended up being rather stiff. “David and Bathsheba” was a good example of this. I pointed out that the production, like most of them, had major stars in the main roles. Then I said, “So you have Bathsheba played by Gregory Peck.” The room burst out in laughter at my mistake, including myself. Then I said, “You know, actually, that might have improved the film. Loosened it up a little.” People laughed again. The humor relaxed everyone and people began to ask questions and participate more.
I have been singing this to myself over the last few weeks. My sweetheart, Artie, and I will be married 50 years this August. So much to be thankful for - our precious children, their spouses, and our six lovely grandchildren. We're sagging and silver and have grown up with each other. So appreciate the ways you help me laugh and cry and help me see - blessings on all you have written and will write. Just love your way of seeing and helping so many see. Too many words here - just thanks!
Thank you, Carrie. And for your poem, too... Send Love, It Matters. There can't be too much of it in the world; and without it the world becomes a darker place.
Thanks for another of your enjoyable song labs!! It is always such a pleasure to see how you play your songs and hear a little bit about the writing, not to mention helpful! Looking at my computer Carrie Newcomer song list to see which album this came from made me appreciate again the absolutely astounding number of excellent songs you have provided, not to mention other activities. Thanks for spreading some joy!
Love is so beautiful when it is unconditional and makes the child within leap with joy. Great song as usual. Thanks so much for sharing not only your music, poetry but all your great thoughts on life.
One of my favorite songs of all the beautiful songs you have created! Thank you for sharing a little more about it! I love the mix of humor and deep love. As a retired pastor, married to a retired pastor who now that we are in the congregation is "Will you love me when life hurts? Wake me up if I fall asleep in church? Sit beside me when evening comes and count our blessings one by one?"
Hi Carrie, it’s Ann Siddique here.
I’ve just found your song for February valentines song. It is lovely 😊. And the funny bit.
Oh I’m so glad you have a special person in your life to share with.
Your Robert. ✨
Lots of love and hugs
Bests
Ann
Thank you for always making my heart sing! You are truly a blessing to the world!
Beautiful. Love it.
I'm grey, we are both sagging, but my SO goes to the hair dresser periodically for color. Whatever makes her happy.

I used this song as inspiration to write a Valentine for my honey, also named Robert.

I played this song as a surprise at 'open mike night' for our anniversary!
My husband loved it.
