Blessings to you for creating this community and blessing it with your Spiritual energy. What a wonderful visual you just created. My version of Blessing is holding people, places, situations and thing in The Loving and The Light of The Divine! ❤️

As I was meditating on this topic last night, Carrie's song "Holy As The Day Is Spent" and Peter Mayer's song "Holy Now" kept coming to my mind. I always strongly resonated with both these songs. This idea of blessing everything is an extension, in my mind, of "Holy As The Day Is Spent" and I truly love the idea of viewing EVERYTHING as Holy and seeing the Divine in everybody and everything. Powerful reminder, Carrie!

Beautiful story Carrie! Blessing things, people, situations you find the extraordinary in ordinary things. Once you see that, you can never un see it. What a great feeling that is. Bless you for the creation of this sacred space, your humble thoughts and words! Holding all that is blessed in the light of the divine!

Thank you for the soothing and inspiring story, Carrie. What a perspective-shifting challenge! My first thought after reflecting on the word "blessing" is that like so many other words in English, it can be used as both a noun and a verb - an action's intention or the action itself. In the traditional sense, blessings are often received (even desperately sought after with unintended consequences, look no further than Esau and Jacob). I was very intrigued by the idea of blessing as an action not to bestow my approval or good wishes but rather an acknowledgment of the sacredness in the other. Your mention of the barred owl that kept you up at night (hope you gifted yourself with a nap today!) reminded me that in the birding world, the barred owl's call is translated as "Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all?" This led to my decision to bless each and every vegetable I picked up today from our weekly CSA: rosy watermelon radishes, beautifully branching kale, plump vibrant carrots...each precious piece of produce I touched, I blessed its holiness for existing in the middle of winter. I blessed its amazing feat of growing from the ground and defeating the odds of drought and spoil. And I whispered an "amen" and blessed the hard-working hands that cultivated and curated such beautiful bounty for me to enjoy in the heart of the darkest season. After this exercise, I felt more connected to the earth, more awed at its capacity, and more mindful of the incredible privilege it is to afford healthy food.

Lovely. And I recommend anything from John O'Donohue, especially from his book To Bless the Space Between Us.

When I first read this in Carrie's book, I had just started praying for some of the people in my 12 step group. I host some of the meetings on the phone and I have to write the names and the states of those who will share or will participate by listening.

This piece prompted me to pray for all of the people in that room most mornings. I do it twice a day.

Resentments can flare among recovering addicts and I am not immune.

I now find that it is harder for me to feel separate, to judge or resent my fellow sufferers.

Thank you for the perspective of your writing. We enjoy your words every day, Carrie.
