Carrie - thank you for this encouragement. I went out with Scout tonight on a trail we have walked hundreds of times probably. But tonight I decided to let Scout set the pace. So when she stopped to sniff, I stopped and let her sniff as much as she wanted. When she was ready to move, I moved. It was wonderful.

After 11 weeks on crutches, this week I’m (finally) walking ever so slowly and deliberately ... a true lesson for me since I have never walked slowly in my life. What do I notice out here in Santa Fe? FEATHERS! Feathers now adorning my entryway. Bunched like a bouquet in a potter’s small pot made by a friend. And reminding me of the sweet poem read by Carrie in Denver.

Feathers!!! 😊💕🦩

This song speaks to me in that at the ripe age of 78 it is my practice to “Take more time and cover less ground!” I took one of those meditation walks earlier this morning after breakfast taking in the clear blue sky, the crisp, cool morning air and listening to the birds and the crackle of the leaves beneath my feet.

Thank you for the gift of your music, Carrie.

It continues to speak to and nurture my soul.

I am looking forward to seeing you and listening to your performance in Chattanooga on Saturday. Also, Kanuga is “holy ground “ for me. I know you will enjoy your time there. Ever grateful!🙏

Precious Carrie--

I’ve been listening to “A Great Wild Mercy” this whole week. The song that keeps singing in my heart is “Take More Time, Cover Less Ground.” It especially resonates this week as the trees in this area reach peak color. That means the leaf peepers come out, cars driving in an endless stream on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Instead, my husband and I walk in the woods near our house and enjoy the play of the sunlight on the trees. We cover less ground but are filled with gratitude for the bountiful beauty of creation.

I hope you take some time to enjoy the trails this week while you’re at Kanuga Conference Center, which is near our home. Our favorite is Rufus Morgan to Geyer Long Rocks, being still at the St Francis Chapel, wandering through the woods, and then gazing at the mountains in the distance from the top.

Thankful for the great wild mercy of hope, peace, and joy,

Carol
