Thank you so much for this I love it. Beautiful. I absolutely feel the prayer, the song, the poem. This words makes anyone feel like they can experience prayer.

I love the many different images of prayer you shared as you both wrote the poem and the song. As a retired pastor who also is open to the many different religious and spiritual traditions. I love your music and the many ways in which you invite us into a deeper understanding of who we are and who we might become.

I have always believed that all our acts have sacramental possibilities. Thank you!

What comes to mind for me are times when an “ordinary” thing suddenly takes on a bigger meaning - and just for an instant, time stands still and I am filled with awe, love, gratitude. One moment stands out. I was in my home office, which overlooks the driveway and street. My son, who had just gotten his license, was pulling out of the driveway - first solo drive. I was filled with the awe, joy and honor to be his parent and be with him on his growing journey- as well as the pain of letting go. And of course the practical- “oh God, please keep him safe” prayer. But the whole moment stood out as a prayer of joy and transition for our family.

What a wise and beautiful insight. Some prayers are luminous and filled with awe and wonder and gratitude. Some prayers are filled with grief, longing and concern. Some prayers are about holding on...and some about letting go. The random, the daily, the sublime and the practical. Yes, I remember those prayers with closed eyes and a mother's heart for my own daughter safety and well-being as she was becoming, who she needed most to be. thank you for the post....it touched me my friend.

Your song labs are wonderful, thank you!! Revisiting a song and hearing you tell about its meaning and how and why you wrote it after hearing it multiple times is delightful!!

Thank you Carrie! The Song Labs have evolved over time to being mostly about teaching the song to just re-experiencing the song with this lovely community. Thanks for the affirmation!

Dear Carrie,

I listened to this song yesterday some hours before opening your message, and I smiled a warm "yes". You are so skilled at beautifully reminding us of the sacredness all around us. I am grateful to you. It was your song "Geodes" which first drew me to you.

I mirror Mary Oliver and so many others who experience the divine in the out of doors. In the luxury of my retirement I walk the Adirondack woods and sit on the mostly solid ground of a mash. There is where it is easiest to sense the oneness and pray.

I utter thanksgivings all the time when I notice simple pleasures and beauty.

I tend to loose it when I hurry. I loose sight and regain it returning to words of praise many times each day. I think I am not unusual in this regard.

Namaste

Such a lovely serendipity . yes....gratitude and awe is in such abundance in the natural places. It is hard to not experience it when I am paying attention. I also find that link to the Luminous in conversations and music and art, in the light on the morning pond, the stars making their way across the sky. prayers seem to be everywhere in my life...I think we share that my friend.

You can also get them on Amazon.com, but it helps artists a bit more to purchase them directly. But either way is totally fine. hopw that helps and thank you for asking.

This is absolutely a song that tells me there are so many ways to pray. I often think "I don't pray" but you in your beautiful way with words, affirm me in the ways that I DO pray without even realizing it. Thank you for that Carrie. 🙏🏼 💖

Some years ago, a friend lost her final battle with breast cancer. Molly had always been a timid soul with little or no faith. I had talked some woo-woo to her over the years and saw mostly skepticism on her face.

The day after I heard that she had moved on to her next chapter, I was headed for work and as I got to the end of my road, three bald eagles flew over one behind the other.

"Hi Molly," I said, "Now do you believe me?"

Faith is a funny thing and these days I know that any time I need to surrender anything to my higher power, it will be Re-Moved. Any time. Day or night.
