The tune in my mind points out the other definition of hope. Hope seems to be an almost " blind" feeling, emotion, and sometimes forgotten . When all of a sudden the "hope" happens , appears, and becomes a reality. The key it seems to realize when the wish, hope becomes reality, then learn to savor it, and remember that the dream , hope, wish had come true. So next time when you think it's impossible, it's not. 🐧☮️

You asked, "Have you ever stepped forward into the “impossible” and glad you did?"

In October I will conclude a 3-year Lilly Grant funded experiment on helping faith communities become more tolerant of uncontrollability and living in contested spaces. What we are learning is that waiting and listening are the keys to being open to that which we cannot control - that Jesus' first command to the post resurrection church was not go and make disciples but to WAIT for the Holy Spirit to come to them. Sometimes, for Americans, waiting feels impossible . . . until it's not.

Carrie,

As a pastor I used to have students write worship notes, their responses to a couple of prompts I had provided before a worship service. When I asked: what sign of hope have you seen this week? One student answered: I have not seen a sign of hope this week . . . Yet.

Isn't that a great answer?

See you at the La Crosse, WI retreat in November

Carrie, Hoosiers for Democracy substack talks about Michelle in today’s post and we referenced Ted Lasso too. We have been working with Michelle and her amazing campaign but did not know she was using the believe image. It is the season to believe we can change things. Hope you can check our our post—you won’t believe the synchronicity

The song, “Impossible, Until It’s Not” became new for me today. It may become my theme song for this election season.

Impossible? That's what we're made for - us humans - with thinking minds and strong bodies and a will and intention to get it right - and make a world of love. So we keep on striving for the impossible, not being sidetracked by those who don't believe in miracles - and making miracles every day. I say, Let's go!

This summer has been a kind of “impossible” time- where a choice for myself felt like something I couldn’t possibly do. I wasn’t able to see what was most needed. I am so grateful I followed my heart anyway.

Two nights ago during a rare thunderstorm… I found myself singing this song. I smiled as I looked back at what I had thought was impossible- but now have come through much of it- with gifts I didn’t imagine.

Thank you for the beautiful soundtrack.

(An engineer) If I had not seen a bee flying, and relied on calculations only, yes, I would insist, that the flight on such ethereal wings was impossible 😂

If all the variables which shape our lives were totally unpredictable, every undertaking would be overwhelming, and - impossible. Fortunately, some of these variables follow patterns: the sequence of seasons, the timing of vegetation, a sunshine after no matter how heavy rain. And these few points of support are enough to build upon them a superstructure of our creations.

Looking back, the great "impossible until not" is raising children. Uncountable circumstances must have been favourable, until the offsprings are grown up and self-reliant. Any calculus of probability would prove the undertaking impossible. Yet, it has been happening successfully for millennia.

From the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, I see the people who bring new hope in America, smiling and laughing. Have you seen the opponent laughing, ever? Who laughs heartily, knows that the impossibles are only until they are not.

Thank you, Carrie, for shining a light of the possible within the impossible…especially in light of our political climate. I grew up in small town Illinois surrounded by a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum. And I know a lot of lifelong Republicans who are sick of Trumpian rhetoric and division. They deserve a better America too and honestly, when people ask me about small town politics, most are more independent minded, at least in the area I grew up in. They just want an honest way forward for themselves and their families. They also know when people are being disingenuous. Yes there is hatred amongst the good folks, but the good folks shouldn’t be abandoned and overlooked. Impossible does happen all the time. I think it’s our job to try to cultivate our minds and hearts to open doors and maintain a spirit of welcoming and collaboration and oppose to cutting off routes and insulating ourselves. Thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for this community

When we started our business in the arts, we were told that it was impossible---that we couldn't raise a family and have what we needed. That we would be starving artists. We learned how to navigate the ups and downs of the economy and how to encourage others to do so. We learned to generate alternative solutions to problems. We learned that pendulums swing, and that we would be ok.

We closed our gallery after almost 29 years, and we moved our studio home, because we didn't want to do full time retail any more---we wanted time for other things. And I wrote this "to those who said we couldn't make a living in the arts, and raise a family, too: You were wrong."

Thank you for sharing these heart felt and lovely words. We will be ok.

18 moves and 18 jobs in 35 years things often seemed impossible. But when I reached out or worked with others the impossible became possible and change for the better often came. Sometimes things didn't work out but another door would open and we could take that route. Thank you for your music thank you for this song and thank you for working in Indiana.
