Community Poetry Project - The Finished Poem

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for participating in our Community Poetry Project - What I Carry. I’m so touched by all the amazing posts and comments. The idea behind this project was to to create one long poem from all of our contributions, but I have to admit I was a bit shy to create the group poem. As I was reading through all the comments, every entry felt so complete, true and beautiful in and of themselves. But in keeping with the spirit of the project, I did create a collected piece that includes something from every comment and a few thoughts and connecting bits from me to help the whole thing flow.

But I do encourage everyone to go back to the original Community Poetry Project post and read all the individual comments. They really are quite luminous! Here is a PDF of the poem that you can download if you would like to have a copy. I’ve also printed it in this post so you can read along if you’d like.
