Very thought-provoking. Parker's referring to the Jewish column in 1933 was very concerning. I have seen Timothy Snyder before on TV and knew of his book but hadn't read it. Your conversation inspires me to buy it; thanks! Also Lifeline has already become one of my all-time favorite songs.

Good session.

The discussion about the lies that people are believing is something I've been thinking about a lot lately. I thought back to times in my past when I was duped. And usually it was because I just wanted to believe a person who was maybe charismatic or someone I wanted as a friend. Deep down I knew they were wrong but .... as Parker has often said... this is living a divided, unauthentic life. And the more I've valued authentic friendships and been unafraid to challenge untruths...the better I feel about myself and sometimes you challenge a friend and you both grow. And so thinking about the situation in this country, it's just really sad.

Thank you both so much for this for this thought provoking and encouraging discussion. I loved the story and the simple quote/response "Friend, I could not disagree with you more." I have a quote in one of my own songs, "And yet I held my tongue, not wishing to offend, knowing my own privilege, my comfort, my illusion of control. But wondering if my silence was selling out my soul" To be able to speak truth without just being confrontational. I am learning. Thanks again for this discussion.
