Tree Stories

Hi Folks This is a poem from my The Beautiful Not Yet: Poetry, Essays & Lyrics collection. Its called “To Be Like A Tree”.

A few random tree stories…..

Tree Story One - In the back yard of the house I lived until I was five-years-old, was an old oak tree. It was the first personal relationship I had with a tree. I remember thinking it had to be the biggest tree in all the world. I mean it was taller than three of my dad, who was over 6 ft tall. It was taller than the roof. It seemed to reach almost to the stars on a clear summer night. I spent a lot of time playing around the gnarly roots of that tree, making homes for fairies and roly poly bugs out of twigs and grass. I remember laying down on my little back and looking up into the branches and leaves as they gently waved to the birds and sky and me and to one another, as if we were all family or close friends and that there was something so comforting about the gracefulness of those limbs, branches and leaves.
