Hi Folks, This is another reading in my continuing series. This is “Blessing” that was published in The Beautiful Not Yet: Poems, Essays & Lyrics.
The poem was written for a friend who was having a significant birthday. I’d been reading John O’Donohue’s luminous book Bless The Space Between Us, and was thinking about blessings as being less sweet and more human - in the form of the old Celtic blessings. I highly recommend the book. Its always on my spiritual reading list. Since I’m in Ireland this week, a Celtic blessing felt appropriate :-)
Question
If you were to write a blessing for yourself or another, what would you hope for them, wish for them, lay your hands out and bless them with?
I made a friend in ireland today. We had a lovely chat.
