Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the July 2025 Song Lab. Today’s song is “I Do Not Know Its Name” from my compilation album Kindred Spirits. As will all my song labs, I’ll play the song, talk a little bit about the story behind the song and then, for those interested in learning how to play the song, I do a short tutorial. When I first started doing Song Labs, I focused mostly on teaching the song, but i’ve really enjoyed including everyone in the experience by extending the first part as more of a conversation about the topic of the song.
This one leans a bit into the mystery of living, the moments when we caught glimpses of something luminous in the world and in our lives, moments we never forget and hold in our hearts with gratitude….you know, basic top forty fare…..ok, maybe not so much, but it is a topic that I circle around and return to often.
