Hi Folks,

I haven’t done a Song Lab in a couple of months - So I decided it would be nice to add another SongLab for our archives! For anyone new to our supporting subscriber content, Song Labs are archived under the “SongLab” tab at the top. In these videos I play a song, talk a little bit about writing the song and the lyrical and musical choices I made. Then for those interested there is a short guitar tutorial at the end so you can learn to play the song yourself.

There are PDFs of the guitar tablature and an audio file for practice with the tablature.

The song I’ll be exploring today is “The Point of Arrival” and it was the title track for an album that was released in 2019. Here’s a spotify link for the full album . It began with a poem that is also found in my book of poetry "Until Now: New Poems” and was written at a time of change and uncertainty. Sometimes there are moments in our lives when an ending is also a beginning. We stand on the threshold not knowing exactly what its going to look like moving forward. There is a clean edge to the moment and a sense of relief, possibility, curiosity and even hallelujah.

I hope you enjoy the video!
