The poetry of Hafiz often moves me and makes me grin at the same time. There is something so wonderful about a work of art or poetry or music that addresses a topic that is meaningful or even quite serious but includes an element of humor. When I read the poetry of Hafiz, it always feels as if he is giving a nod to the deep longings of our hearts, and yet it is given with a spoonful of kindness or bit of compassion when compassion is needed.
