April Song Lab - Holy As The Day Is Spent

Hi Everyone, Here is my April Song Lab. There has been some interest in having one of my song labs explore lyrics a little deeper. So if you are a songwriter, poet or you just like learning a little more about how songwriters make lyrical choices, this lab is for you! Next month I’ll be teaching how to play this song on the guitar, but this one will be more about thought process and language. I’ve included the lyrics in a PDF below so you can read along if you’d like.

This song was written with the intent to use spiritual language in a way that we aren’t always used to hearing it presented. Its a list song that explores and describes and ordinary things, daily encounters, inner experience and expansive moments as possessing a quality of awe and wonder, a deep down sacredness that is present all around us if we choose to frame our experience in that manner.
